Terry Spice, Lifestyle Property Specialist – Queenstown and New Zealand
Originally from the UK, I spent almost a decade travelling the globe working within the elite Super Yacht industry. Starting on deck, I worked my way through the ranks to a Captain’s license before continuing on terra firma to project manage several refits and yacht builds in both Europe and the USA.
My wife, a native New Zealander, ultimately led me to settle in the Queenstown region. After spending so many years on yachts, I was just stunned by the beauty of the alpine landscape. Beyond the beauty, was the world class golf, wineries and relaxed lifestyle. Right away I was enamoured with the region.
Once we settled, I drew on my experience in luxury travel to consult on a small, luxury boutique hotel venture before becoming a founding director of Touch of Spice. As New Zealand’s leading luxury lifestyle group, Touch of Spice focuses on marketing and managing a portfolio of private luxury villa accommodation, extensive personal concierge services and specialist event planning.
In project management, I thrived in the role of facilitator. Coupled with my extensive track record in the luxury market, it was a likely and desired progression for me to move into Queenstown’s luxury lifestyle property sector.
Gaining my property experience working with an internationally renowned luxury property brand, I perceived a synergy between the lifestyle property sector and Touch of Spice. A number of suitable buyers were holidaying in Queenstown, and like the rest of us, they would fall in love with the area. When they purchased property, I could provide an exceptional after-sales service through Touch of Spice. Owners could feel assured that not only their property was being looked after, so were they on return visits.
Wanting to expand on this concept and offer a complete lifestyle package, I developed the premium side of RE/MAX Queenstown, to be known as High Country Realty to cater to this niche luxury lifestyle market. It’s exciting to offer a service and have the freedom to assist clients in a way that gives each person a unique and personalized experience.
In closing Queenstown is a unique, four season resort in the South Island of New Zealand. Often compared to its sister city of Aspen, CO, Queenstown offers world class golf, fly fishing and alpine skiing to name a few. Combining rural landscapes, alpine vistas and a cosmopolitan city centre, Queenstown presents a diverse portfolio of luxury lifestyle properties for the discerning investor.
I look forward to the coming months and years within the Who's Who in Luxury Real Estate and having the opportunity to form long term relationships with other members, not just on a business level but I hope a personal one too.
